Norwegian farmed salmon prices are down between NOK 2 (€0.269/$0.349) and NOK 3 (€0.4/$0.5) on Friday, as higher volumes of salmon impacted prices, with more small fish -- below 4 kilograms (Kg) -- being slaughtered.
According to sources IntraFish spoke to, there are large gaps in the price of salmon right now, but all of the industry insiders confirmed that prices will be down next week.
The explanation is simple: there is an increasing volume in the short term.
In addition, farmers are struggling with pancreatic disease (PD) and Hitra disease, causing many to slaughter early.
