When members of Global Salmon Initiative (GSI) committed certifying production to the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) standards by 2020 last year, it dramatically increased the need for third-party auditors who can approve sites.
Among those seeking to expand its business as part of the growth is Norwegian certification firm Noomas, whose eight staff just completed the two-day course with examination in ASC certification of salmon farming.
“It’s unique in an ASC context that a company does this, and it will result in considerable increase in approved ASC certifiers in Norway.
