The bank’s switch to Islandsbanki from Glitnir -- since its collapse earlier this year it has been operating under the name New Glitnir -- takes effect Feb. 20.
The decision was made to emphasize the bank’s new role as a regional financial facility serving Icelandic homes and businesses, said Director Birna Einarsdottir.
“The staff of the bank are fully aware that the Glitnir name has been hit hard in the storm that has raged in the Icelandic financial sector in the last two months,” said Einarsdottir.
