An unwelcome legal judgment notwithstanding, Norwegian whitefish firm Havfisk -- perviously known as Aker Seafoods -- is optimistic about the new year.
"Havfisk's 2013 results are better than 2012, despite 2013 being a difficult year for the business," Havfisk CEO Olav Holst-Dyrnes told IntraFish.
The reasons for performing well despite challenging conditions are twofold, Holst-Dyrnes said. Reallocation of whitefish quota and the inclusion of two new vessels -- Gadus Poseidon and Gadus Njord -- in its fleet.
Over the last years, Havfisk has also improved overall operations with higher catch-rates at lower operating cost, he said.
