With an uncertain price situation, unclear consumer demand and and the early mortality syndrome (EMS) situation in Asia and Mexico is "stable at best," buyers are holding off from purchases to try to get a read on the erratic market.

For example, shrimp and seafood supplier Anduronda has been holding off on shrimp purchases due to the "still complicated situation with EMS," Bernd Sattelberger, sales manager at the company, told IntraFish at the Seafood Expo in Brussels last week.

“Supply and prices are still uncertain and we're wondering if the United States and China will be buying big amounts again this year," he said.
