Fifty percent of Chile’s fisheries production lies in the area most affected by the earthquake, and 25 percent of the installed capacity of Chilean fishing companies was destroyed by the earthquake and subsequent tsunamis.

“Everything is on hold. I think there are still containers floating about. There are no communications and all the logistical chains have had to adapt to this situation. It has taken a while to adjust and it will take much longer to get back to normality,” said one logistical operator.
