A group of Alaska salmon processors, led by Trident Seafoods, including Peter Pan Seafoods, Icicle Seafoods, Ocean Beauty Seafoods, North Pacific Seafoods and Alaska General/Leader Creek Fisheries, were unsuccessful after months of back and forth to rejoin the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certificate through the Alaska Salmon Processors Association (ASPA).

The Pacific Seafood Processors Association (PSPA) this week stepped up, and applied to be a second client group -- and hopes to have it in place by early 2016.

"We're working on becoming a second group so that these companies that want to participate in the MSC program have the option to do that," Glenn Reed, president at PSPA, told IntraFish.
