Creative Salmon said they received notice this week that protestor Don Staniford is appealing the verdict of Canadian Supreme Court Justice Laura Gerow, who ordered Staniford to pay CAD $15,000 (€9,920/$12,875) for defaming British Columbia-based Creative after one of its farmed chinook salmon was found to have trace amounts of malachite green.
The appeal doesn’t come as a surprise, Spencer Evans, managing director of Creative Salmon told IntraFish.
“We were expecting them to do this,” Evans said. “It bides them more time.”
