The Salmon Farm Protest Group has launched a “10 reasons to boycott Scottish ‘quality’ salmon this Christmas” campaign on its website. The group plans to hold “Santa says no, no, no to farmed salmon” parties next month in Edinburgh (Princes Street), London (Regents Street) and Dublin (O’Connell Street).
"Santa" will be handing out presents of wild Alaskan salmon and explaining to consumers why they should think twice before buying farmed salmon.
The "10 reasons" which the group has published on its website include claims that farmed salmon is fattier and less healthy than wild, and that farmed "can be contaminated with cancer-causing chemicals."
