The company recently invested an undisclosed amount in Canadian mussel farmer and processor Atlantic Aqua Farms, located on Prince Edward Island, Kevin Murphy, vice president of Encore Consumer Capital told IntraFish.
Atlantic Aqua sells its mussels under the Canadian Cove brand. The 21-year-old firm is the largest grower and processor of mussels in North America, acting CEO and co-founder Brian Fortune told IntraFish on Friday.
He said the company employs 150 workers and produces 11 million pounds of mussels, and buys another 11 million pounds from third-party growers.
