The board of Pescanova filed for voluntary bankruptcy for its subsidiaries Bajamar Septima, a shrimp processing plant, trader Pescanova Alimentacion, the logistics and cold storage business unit Frigodis and surimi supplier Frivipesca Chapela, according to a note filed Monday to Spain's financial regulator National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).

The filing was already approved by a Spanish court on May 23, 2014, the note said, and necessary to the restructuring of the company into Nueva Pescanova.

Meanwhile, in Portugal, the company has appointed PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), to sell off its subsidiary Acuinova Actividades Piscicolas.
