Alicorp, Peru’s largest consumer goods company, has acquired the Chilean salmon feed producer Salmofood for $62 million (€49.5 million).

Alicorp is owned by the Romero Group, one of Peru’s largest locally own conglomerates.

Salmofood controls around 11 percent of salmon feed in Chile and was previously owned by Invermar and Yadran, according to the news website Aqua.cl.

Invermar and Yadran will receive $31 million (€24.7 million) each as part of the deal.

There has long been speculation about Peruvian interest in Chile’s salmon industry.
