At the High Court in Edinburgh Friday, four fishermen who had previouslypleaded guilty to landing undeclared fish at Fresh Catch and Alexander Buchanbetween 2002 and 2005 were the subject of confiscation orders totaling over£1,100,000 (€1.4 million/$1.7 million).

One of these orders being one of the largest ever made against an individualin Scotland.

The accused, their vessels and the amounts of the confiscation orders were:

• Ian Buchan, master of the Quantas -- confiscation order £1,000,000 (€1.2million/$1.6 million)

• James Duthie, master of the Sunbeam -- confiscation order £99,000(€123,196/$156,034)

• Stephen Bellany, master of the Unity -- confiscation order £64,612(€80,403/$101,835)

• Oswald McRonald, master of the Quantas -- confiscation £23,669(€29,454/$37,305)

At the same court confiscation proceedings and sentencing for six further vessel skippers, John MacLeod, Michael MacLeod, Allan Simpson, Ernest Simpson, John Smith and James Smith were continued to July 16 2012 at the High Court in Edinburgh.
