Officials for the proposed Pebble Mine project in the Bristol Bay region of Alaska say the US Environmental Protection Agency report, which stated the proposed copper and gold mine could threaten the world’s largest sockeye salmon fishery, is filled with inaccuracies and will review the document before making any decision on the project’s future.
Pebble Partnership CEO John Shively told IntraFish he was disappointed by the assessment from the EPA, stating the “process has been rushed” and “should not be used as the basis for any type of agency decision regarding Pebble.”
