Hugo Maurstadelva, partner at private equity firm Altor, said the company excludes submitting a higher bid for Cermaq's fish feed arm EWOS, reported Finansavisen.
"We'll think it over this week, but basically I do not think we will bid higher," he told the newspaper.
Together with investment fund Bain Capital, Altor submitted a NOK 6.2 billion (€786.8 million/$1 billion) bid for Ewos in mid-June.
A second anonymous competitor submitted a "competitive" bid on Monday last week.
According Finansavisen, the second bid comes from British investment fund Permira.
