The value of shrimp exports from Panama almost doubled in 2013, after nearly a decade of being depressed as a result of white spot disease, according to the La Agencia de Noticia Panama.
In the period up to November last year, exports totaled $65.6 million (€48.4 million), an increase of $30.2 million (€22.3 million) compared with 2012.
Shrimp exports from Panama had been declining since 2009, when they were valued at $41.1 million (€30.3 million).
