Pacific Seafood has been working for more than four years to establish a second steelhead farm in Washington state in the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Now it appears all of the company's efforts could be wasted.
After extensive talks, both the tribes that live in the area and a key environmental stakeholder told the company in December that they would need to see the final application before deciding whether to support it, Pacific Seafood's Aquaculture Manager John Bielka told IntraFish.
