The announcement by Minister Paul Robichaud last week has come as something of a shock for the New Brunswick Salmon Farmers Association.

Glenn Cooke, president of the New Brunswick Salmon Growers' Association (NBSGA), is disappointed that more aquaculture sites were not approved last week. The NBSFA has called on the Minister to intervene in what it described as the industry's urgent need for new sites.

Descibed as one of the most extensive consultations with the industry, the review considered 16 site applications since January.
