Scholtes, who has been working as the company’s senior vice president of corporate development since April, will start his new role on Jan.1.

He replaces Robert Stockton, who is retiring Dec. 31.

Prior to joining Omega Protein, Scholtes was vice president of origination at an energy investment firm, GE Energy Financial Services, between 2006 and April 2010.

Omega Protein produces omega-3 fatty acids for human consumption, as well as specialty fish meals and fish oil for aquaculture and livestock feeds. The company says it makes its products from menhaden, an omega-3 rich fish that is not utilized as seafood and is available along the U.S.
