Negotiations between a private equity group, with the help of seafood veteran Jeff Davis, and a New England scallop and lobster company are ongoing but "aren't close."
Since March, Davis, a former executive at American Seafoods, and executives at private equity firm Bregal Partners, have been working to purchase Oceans Fleet Fisheries and its 19 vessels, processing and cold storage facilities, and its brand, but its owners have yet to settle on a price.
"They approached me and it intrigued me because if they came in, all my employees would keep their jobs," Oceans Fleet Fisheries owner, CEO Lars Vinjerud II told IntraFish.
