Hong Kong-based Ocean Trawlers claims the U.K. subsidiary of Icelandic Group owes it £1.2 million -- $2.1 million according to the exchange rate at the time -- for transactions instigated by Ocean Trawlers’ then sales manager Alistair Ramus. Icelandic Group UK -- which had a turnover of £240 million (€267 million/$361 million) in 2008 -- includes Coldwater Seafood and Seachill.
The $300 million (€224 million) turnover Ocean Trawlers -- which reportedly handles 120,000 metric tons of fish yearly and is the biggest supplier of cod and haddock from the Barents Sea -- alleges it is entitled to the return of this fish or payment of its estimated value of £1.2
