Canadian seafood producers will have a much easier time exporting product to South Korea and vice versa after the two countries agreed to a free trade deal Tuesday.

Although all the details have yet to be released, companies such as Ocean Choice International are already applauding the deal after nearly a decade of negotiations.

Martin Sullivan, president and CEO of Ocean Choice, told IntraFish the trade agreement will have “a very positive impact on seafood industry.”

“Asia is the world’s fastest growing economic region and seafood imports into this market will provide us with the opportunity to enhance our market presence throughout Korea and all of Asia,” Sullivan said.
