Farmers have already protested and the National Association of Small Boat Owners (NASBO) has also lodged a strong protest, saying that they are firmly against the idea that there could no longer be a Ministry dedicated specifically to fisheries.
“Not long ago, two of our longest-established Ministries, fisheries and agriculture, were merged. NASBO did not object to this as these two sectors are closely linked and fisheries were still clearly defined as the Ministry's role.
