New Zealand orange roughy exports have risen, as catch limits of the deepwater fish increased due to improving stocks, reported scoop.co.nz.

Exports rose 6.9 percent to a three-year high of NZD 36.5 million (€23.7 million/$27 million) last year, according to Statistics NZ data.

The year of 1988 saw the peak in terms of exports for the species, at NZD 170.2 million (€110.6 million/$125.9 million), while just three years ago, the fishery saw a low of NZD 29 million (€18.9 million/$21.5 million) when catch limits were cut back.
