Six months ago, Jamaica, NY-based seafood supplier World Wide Food Products Inc. introduced a new line of canned crab to the market under its Geisha brand. The fresh-pasteurized line includes, six varieties sourced from Indonesia, Thailand and China: special, jumbo, colossal, claw, lump and super lump, Sales Manager Lloyd Glazer told IntraFish.

The line is "performing well," with Geisha touting higher quality and better quality-control as a selling point.

Carried by distributors and retailers such as Restaurant Depot and Weiss Markets, Geisha spent a year in research and development for the one-pound refrigerated canned crab line.
