It should be another near record harvest for the Nova Scotia lobstermen, experts say, but major changes could be on the horizon for the $1 billion (€748 million) fishery.

On Thursday, The Maritime Lobster Panel released its report suggesting a reboot of the Canadian lobster industry in order to ensure its survival.

In its report, the three-person panel laid out 33 recommendations, including a price-setting mechanism to determine preseason pricing, a marketing campaign with a levy to pay for their five-year program and a weekly “no haul” day to coincide with temporary trap reductions to start the season.
