The Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC) is calling 2014 a "banner year" for seafood exports, with shipments valued at NOK 68.8 billion (€7.6 billion/$8.9 billion), an increase of 12 percent from the year before.
Despite the Russian import ban, which came into force on Aug. 7, Norway saw exports reach new records for salmon, cod and mackerel.
Exports for salmon reached a value of NOK 43.9 billion (€4.8 billion/$5.7 billion), up 11 percent from the previous year.
