“It’s still very nice to be a salmon farmer,” Nova Sea’s Managing Director Karsten Nestvold told IntraFish. Nestvold says the market is eager to get hold of salmon this week and that this is helping to push prices upwards.

The buyers, however, have a slightly different view of the market.

“Not enough fish are being harvested to meet current market demand,” Purchasing Manager Andre Skarbo of Norsk Sjomat said.

Last week prices bounded upwards, causing buyers to hedge against further price rises by buying in extra.
