Norwegian salmon prices tumble on high volumes

Prices for Norwegian Atlantic salmon have plummeted over the past week and both buyers and sellers are hesitant about doing any trading.

Industry players told IntraFish that the market has come to a sudden stop, with lots of volume still to be sold.

IntraFish talked with a number of buyers, exporters and producers at around 13.00 CET, all of whom described a tentative market.

“The price is significantly down,” one exporter said.  “Neither buyers or sellers are making any moves, and there is a lot of fish still left in Oslo which has not been sold this week.
