Higher volumes of fresh salmon coming from Norway next week will continue to pressure prices, with industry sources saying there was a "heavy" fall Friday.

This comes on the back of the temporarily higher maximum allowed biomass (MTB), introduced in the wake of the Russian import ban in August last year.

This six percent increase is now showing its first consequences as volumes will have to be harvested in the weeks to March 31.

"There is a lot of fish in the water that needs to be slaughtered in the coming weeks," one exporter told IntraFish this Friday -- a sentiment reiterated by others in the industry.
