Norwegian salmon prices continue to rise, growing for the third week in a row, industry watchers told IntraFish Friday.

"There is very little fish accessible anywhere in Norway. The picture is similar in Scotland," one exporter said. "Prices already started to increase Wednesday this week."

In Europe, many are reluctant to buy salmon at these prices. "It's insane and not fun anymore," one importer told IntraFish.

It's especially difficult for those who only trade in salmon.

"Smokehouses in particular are struggling," he said. "There is a real danger that many might go bankrupt due to the high prices.
