Norwegian salmon prices jump on lower volumes, higher demand

Sources in the Norwegian salmon industry IntraFish talked to report of a NOK 3 (€0.36/$0.46) increase per kilogram week-on-week.

Sizes of 3-6 kg are seeing the biggest jump.

"Salmon prices are seeing a boost," one exporter told IntraFish. He said volumes going into the market are now smaller, as fish farmers are concentrating on building up the biomass again after many had to slaughter fish due to lice problems.

Several of the players IntraFish talked to this Friday said it appears that smaller fish are in higher demand.

"Volumes
