At salmon traders Mainstream and Seaborn, the price picture on Friday afternoon was almost identical.

Brede Loefsgaard, a trader at Mainstream, said he was very comfortable with the situation.

”We have sold everything we have, but we have steered away from the minimum price situation," Loefsgaard told IntraFish. "There has been a large spread among prices.”

Contrary to forecasts by some in the industry, there is no mountain of unsold salmon, Loefsgaard said. ”The market is a little bit nervous, but next week the holiday season in Europe is over.
