Norwegian salmon prices down on higher slaughter volumes

Norwegian salmon prices are expected to drop by NOK 2 (€0.25/$0.33) to NOK 3 (€0.37/$0.50) next week, following two strong weeks, especially for bigger-sized fish, farmers and exporters told IntraFish Friday.

Nevertheless, prices are expected to remain above the NOK 30 (€3.70/$5) mark.

Reason for the drop are higher slaughter volumes, one exporter in western Norwray told IntraFish. "My impression is that those who had the possibility slaughtered more fish when prices went up," he said.

Other sources echoed this notion, saying more and more fish was hitting the market again, while purchases went down.
