After traders and producers ended Friday business in a nervy mood, as the market appeared to lose its appetite for salmon, IntraFish expects average salmon prices to begin the week at NOK 21 (€2.63/$3.53).
The prognosis, which is more than NOK 2 (€0.25/$0.33) down on last week, puts Norwegian salmon well below the €2.80 ($3.76) EU imposed minimum import price (MIP).
The MIP came into force in January 2006 after complaints by Scottish and Irish independent producers their number was being driven out of business by a flood of cheap imports.
