According to the latest figures from the Norwegian Seafood Export Council (NSEC), no markets can measure up to the United States where fresh salmon fillets are concerned.
In August, the United States imported 1,798 metric tons of salmon fillets, worth NOK 92.1 million (€10.7 million/$15.4 million). France followed with 971 metric tons at a value of NOK 49.9 million (€5.8 million /$8.4 million).
During the first eight months of this year, the United States has imported a total of 10,438 metric tons of fresh salmon fillets from Norway.
