Salmon prices are giving Norwegian fish producers ample reason to celebrate, while processors despair over losing money until they manage to increase prices to their customers accordingly.

Recently, Leines Seafood, located in Helgeland, Norway, decided enough was enough and closed down its salmon processing section at Easter.

Per Magne Grondahl, managing director and owner of Norsk Sjomat in Stranda, Norway, isn’t ruling out more Norwegian salmon processors will throw in the towel.

“Yes, it looks that way to me," he told IntraFish. "Many small and medium-size businesses are considering to give up now.
