The Norwegian Minister of Health, Jonas Gahr Store, said he fully relies on the Norwegian Food Safety Authority’s (NFSA) evaluation that farmed salmon is safe to eat.
Last week, Researcher and medical practitioner Anne-Lise Bjorke Monsen Norwegian and international experts warned harmful pollutants in salmon feed is making farmed salmon unsafe for pregnant women and children to eat
The authority said the doctor's conclusion that salmon is not safe to eat lacks coherency, and doesn't weigh up advantages with disadvantages.
“Environmental toxins in humans have been dramatically reduced in recent years, which means our intake of environmental toxins from food is less,” Utne Skaare of the authority told the newspaper Bergens Tidende (BT).
