In an address at the cod seminar in Tromso, Norway, Heggelund showed a wall chart prepared by the restaurant trade that advises against offering cod to guests in certain periods of the year since cod is an endangered species.

“I have managed to stop this brochure, but what has happened is that restaurants have received the message from Norwegian cod producers to not serve [wild] cod, as stocks of this fish are threatened. We must not ruin the market for cod by spreading falsehoods,” said Heggelund.

Heggelund
