Though Norwegian cod makes its way primarily to the European market, the quality of the product isn't always as pristine as its reputation, according to Norwegian news bureau NRK.
Spanish importer Alberto Alfonso told NRK it's difficult to find fish that meets his quality requirements.
"Only 30 percent of the Norwegian cod on the market is of sufficient quality," he said.
"This applies to both texture and color. This should not be the case for product coming out of a Norwegian factory."
