Norway's trout, cod exports up in 2008

In November, 1,041 metric tons of farmed cod were exported from Norway with a value of NOK 35.2 million ($4.8 million/€3.8 million).

The total for 2008 stands at 5,347 metric tons worth NOK 192.5 million ($26.4 million/€20.8 million), an increase in volume of 53 percent and a price increase of 34 percent from last year.

The average price so far this year for gutted, headless cod is NOK 33.27 ($4.56/€3.60) per kilo, mot 38.55 ($5.29/€4.17) per kilo last year, according to figures from the Norwegian Seafood Export Council (NSEC).
