Norway's small exporters bear brunt of Russia sanctions

Russia's import ban has left its marks in Norway, with smaller companies bearing the brunt.

“Small players have stood the losses for these sanctions. That’s how it is in business, but it leaves a bitter taste,” said Julia M. Anthonisen, of the export company Athena Seafoods.

Norwegian seafood has been banned from Russia since Aug. 7 last year along with imports from the European Union, the United States, Canada and Australia.

At the end of June, Russia's President Vladimir Putin announced sanctions would continue for another year.
