Figures from Norwegian Seafood Federation (FHL) reveal 336 million salmon populated Norwegian farms at the end of February this year, with an average weight of 1.8 kilograms.
This equates to a biomass of 621,000 metric tons. This is a slight drop from 626,000 metric tons last year, also with 336 million salmon in farm cages, but averaging 1.9 kilograms.
At the end of January this year, salmon biomass totaled 647,000 metric tons, an increase of 1 percent compared to last year’s 639,000 metric tons.
