Grethe Adoff of the Norwegian Seafood Center provided an overview of the status for species in Norwegian marine farming at the Sats Marint conference held in Bergen on Wednesday, and while there is a future for some "new" farmed species, his outlook for cod was grim.
“Cod was predicted as the next big species, but now in 2015 it is only the national breeding station for cod in Troms that is engaged in farming cod," he said. "However it is vital to maintain this national breeding program."
