Norwegian exporters’ troubles at the Turkish border are caused by authorities’ demand for a dioxin certificate, said a Turkish seafood importer.

Shipments arriving without a dioxin certificate at the border are being sent to Ankara, from where lab results can take four to five weeks to arrive, said Ulvi Denizer of Denizer Seafood.

On Tuesday Norway said it was working on resolving issues that seafood exporters are experiencing in getting their fish and fish-related products into Turkey.

The problems started around mid to late April and seem to affect all types of fish exporters, a spokesperson from the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (NFSA) said.

"We
