If 20 percent more Norwegian salmon are slaughtered for the rest of the year, the 2009 slaughter volume will be 840,000 metric tons.
“We recorded a large withdrawal of fish in July. But a good growth during the past two months, and a reduction in wastage, helping to increase the difference in biomass compared with last year,” said the Norwegian Seafood Federation (FHL).
On the basis of biomass figures, and estimates on the size distribution, the agency said it expects 20 percent more individual salmon slaughtered from August to the end of the year.
