Smaller fish volumes were slaughtered in Norway last week, leading to higher prices, said Hallgeir Helland, a trader at Floro-based Norwell.
“Producers cannot match demand, pushing prices upward,” he said Friday.
At the end of last week, Helland said three- to four-kilogram salmon were selling at between NOK 25.50 and NOK 27.50 (€3.21-€3.46/$4.42-$4.77), four- to five-kilo fish at NOK 28.50 (€3.58/$4.94), and those weighing six kilos and more NOK 29.50 (€3.71/$5.12).
