Norway's salmon exports increased 43 percent in the month of January to NOK 2.7 billion (€363.1 million/$494.3 million), compared to one year ago, show new figures released by the Norwegian Seafood Council, numbers never seen before.
In January, Norwegian farmers exported 76,600 metric tons of salmon in terms of product weight, an increase of 12 percent or 8,000 metric tons year-on-year.
"The export price for fresh whole salmon in January was NOK 34.88 (€4.70/$6.40) per kilogram," said Paul Aandahl, senior analyst at the Norwegian Seafood Council.
