Norway exported 14,073 metric tons of fresh salmon in week 28 of the year, down from 16,056 metric tons in the same week last year.
Nevertheless prices were almost double this year at an average of NOK 44.29 (€5.6/$7.2) per kilo compared with NOK 26.93 (€3.4/$4.4) in 2012, according to the latest statistics from the Norwegian Seafood Council.
“In 2010, we also had a long period of high prices, but this year the prices are even higher than that. If you also look at the strong Norwegian Kroner over time, it has been climbing and is significantly above the 2010 level,” Paul T.
