In an article on the Norwegian Food Safety Authority’s (NFSA) website, inspectorate director, Kristina Landsverk, said they are seeing the same trend as applied for last year.

The increase was anticipated as sea temperatures were higher, which favored reproduction for salmon lice.

“This is as expected. It’s important to stress that work to combat salmon lice is a long haul; there are no quick and easy solutions,” she said.

Another reason for the rise in lice levels is that farms in some areas are still carrying out uncoordinated de-lousing.
